Why does Kate Roberts, from Days of Our Lives, have one finger nail painted a different color than the rest?

I think its a sign on the show that she's going towards the ';dark side';. She is in cahoots with E.J. to take down Sami{and is also sleeping with him!} and he is after the whole Brady crew and is paying off Patrick Lockhart. Maybe she actually knows all about it and the black nails is just a sign to show she's not who she used to be. Notice how Mimi also painted her nails black when she was doing something wrong?
